Above Rubies
Above Rubies is a livelihood project created to help widows and single mothers in the Philippines, who would otherwise struggle to find work and support their families. Life can be so hard for these women who are incredibly vulnerable. If they can find jobs, they are often taken advantage of with poor wages and work conditions.
The women learn new handicraft skills and having secure employment gives strength and hope in difficult circumstances. They receive a fair wage and a savings plan; the funds generated also help to support other single mothers outside of the project. Above Rubies aims to ensure their product is beautiful in every way - each piece carrying hope and every purchase an expression of love.
Through sales and sponsorships, Above Rubies are now able to support ten other families in their community. You can read more about this incredible organisation and how they give back in our journal.
